#Baking With Iz : Christmas Shortbread

It's officially December and I have never been more excited than I am right now for Christmas. Today I thought I would bake a few things whilst decorating the Christmas trees as well as listening to some
festive tunes!

This recipe of shortbread is off Tanya Burr's website (although they are not my ideal shortbread biscuit!)

You will need:
300g plain flour
200g softened butter
100g caster sugar
a few drops of vanilla extract

Start by rubbing the flour and butter together in a bowl until you have a crumbly consistency, then stir in the caster sugar and vanilla extract and work together until a dough forms. Wrap the dough up in cling film and refrigerate for an hour. When you’re ready, preheat the oven to 130c (I had to put mine to 200c for them to cook!) and lightly flour a surface, then roll the dough out to 1cm thickness. Use a cutter to cut star shapes into the dough and arrange on a lined baking tray. Bake in the oven for 20 minutes until they are a pale golden colour. Serve with a dusting of snowy icing sugar.

This made me feel super festive and in an all-round good mood. If you try them let me know how they went and how you found them to your normal shortbread!

As always,
